Overview
In company Kortechs I was outsourced for US based online platform for purchasing bus tickets. The engagement spanned the full frontend lifecycle from a ground up SPA refactor to a cross platform mobile app, for a company that scaled to over $50M.
The Problem
The existing website lacked a modern, maintainable frontend architecture, and there was no mobile presence for customers wanting to book tickets on the go. Internal teams also had no dedicated tooling for managing worker schedules and day to day operations.
What I Built
The engagement delivered three distinct products: a complete refactor of the web platform into a React SPA with Redux state management, an internal backoffice tool for employee scheduling and operational management, and a cross platform React Native app that mirrored the web platform's booking functionality. Shipped to both the App Store and Google Play.
A custom shared component library was also developed to unify UI primitives across the web app, backoffice, and mobile projects.
Tech Stack
- Frontend: React, Redux
- Mobile: React Native (iOS & Android)
- Shared: Custom component library
Key Features
- Ticket purchasing flow - fully refactored SPA delivering a fast, reliable booking experience for end users
- Backoffice dashboard - internal management tool covering worker scheduling and operational workflows
- Cross-platform mobile app - React Native app published to both App Store and Google Play, matching the web platform's feature set
- Shared component library - reusable UI components in rollup library injected across all three frontend surfaces to reduce duplication
Results & Impact
The client company scaled to over $50M in value during the engagement, with the frontend work playing a impactfull role. The React Native app reached both major app stores, and the shared component library accelerated development across every subsequent project on the platform.
